Nostalgic Posters Serve Up Memories of the 9th Avenue International Food Festival

W42ST first reported on the 9th Avenue International Food Festival in 2015, when the New York icon was celebrating its 42nd birthday. How the world has changed since then!

In just seven years, we have lost many of those businesses from Hell’s Kitchen. Do you remember Bar Bacon, Leon’s Bakery, Daisy May’s BBQ, Uncle Nick’s Greek Restaurant, The Delta Grill and Tagg Men’s Boutique, to name but a few?

This week, we went through the archive of the Ninth Avenue Association’s posters from the events and they stirred up all sorts of memories. Which do you remember? What stories have you got about the festival to tell us? We’re going to be publishing reader stories, photos and memorabilia from previous festivals in the run-up to this year’s event on Saturday and Sunday May 14-15.
