Nostalgic Posters Serve Up Memories of the 9th Avenue International Food Festival

W42ST first reported on the 9th Avenue International Food Festival in 2015, when the New York icon was celebrating its 42nd birthday. How the world has changed since then!

In just seven years, we have lost many of those businesses from Hell’s Kitchen. Do you remember Bar Bacon, Leon’s Bakery, Daisy May’s BBQ, Uncle Nick’s Greek Restaurant, The Delta Grill and Tagg Men’s Boutique, to name but a few?

This week, we went through the archive of the Ninth Avenue Association’s posters from the events and they stirred up all sorts of memories. Which do you remember? In 2018, there were different versions of the poster for the 9th Avenue International Food Festival.

in 2014 the poster for the 9th Avenue International Food Festival celebrated Bar Bacon, Flaming Saddles and Poseidon Greek Bakery.

Same years there were multiple posters for the 9th Avenue International Food Fesitval.

In 2013, food was the theme of the poster for the 9th Avenue International Food Festival.

Sometimes the Food Fesitval weekends have been combined with special events.

Lady Liberty and the New York skyline have featured on the posters for the 9th Avenue International Food Festival over the years.

This poster is from the 2008 9th Avenue International Food Festival. In those days the street fair went all the way down to W39th Street.
